Cambodia Opens First Regional Football Event After Reopening the Country

PHNOM PENH: The Football Federation of Cambodia will start selling tickets for the ASEAN Football Federation Under-23 Championship 2022 (AFF U-23 2022) on 10 February, a positive sign for the resumption of regional football matches after a hiatus of more than one year.

AFF U-23 2022 will run from 14-26 February 2022. There will be 4 tiers of tickets for sale: type 1 price 30,000 Riel (roughly US $7.5), type 2 price 20,000 Riel (roughly US $5), type 3 price 14,000 Riel (roughly US $3.5) and type 4 price 8,000 Riel (roughly US $2).

The Football Federation of Cambodia has made an announcement saying that despite the reopening of stadiums, they will only run at half capacity as a Covid-19 safety measure.

Two venues in Phnom Penh are selected for this competition, the Moradok Techo National Stadium and the Prince Stadium.

For the championships, Cambodia is in Group A with East Timor, the Philippines and Brunei. Group B features Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Laos, while Group C features Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.

Since November 2021, Cambodia has fully reopened in all areas and sectors after a successful national vaccination campaign reached its target population of those aged 18 and over.
